Once you’ve paid for your item, you want the quickest possible route of the product to you, yea? Well we want you to get your packages as quickly as possible also, but delays happen. And there are simple ways to prevent delays and avoid complications.

Prevent Delivery Delays

How do you prevent delivery delays of a parcel? Do you pick a good weather, or a fast shipper? Unfortunately, neither. The answer is much more simpler. You just have to make the process easier for those who are handling your items. This means us, the shipper yes, and your country duty officers.

Lets break it down further for you so you can avoid package delays easily.

Respect Warehouse Timings

When shipping to your Vyking Ship address, DO NOT choose a guaranteed delivery time (before 8 a.m. or 10 a.m.) in the shipping options.

The problem with these guaranteed services is that they tend to show up at our Vyking Ship warehouse before we open. This means that we will fail to get the package because they will continue to try to deliver it before our warehouse is open.

If you do this by mistake, we do have the ability to contact the shipping carrier and arrange for the packages to be delivered during our normal business hours, but unfortunately it usually takes an extra day for them to make the transition. So in the end, your package will be delivered to us much faster if you don’t select a guaranteed shipping option.

This is perhaps the foremost important tip to prevent delivery delays we have for you.

Write Correct Vyking Ship Address

Make sure your package is correctly addressed to your Vyking Ship account.

Imagine the shipper is trying to deliver but cannot because of wrong addres.

There are two places to find the format that all packages shipped to your Vyking Ship address should have. The first is in the verification email you received when you set up your account. The second is by clicking on the “My Warehouse” link that you will find in the upper right hand of the screen when you’re logged into your account.

Most merchants have two lines available for the street address, when selecting the shipping destination. Make sure to put your suite number in the second line to prevent delivery delays. For example, if your suite number is 1234, write “Suite 1234” or “Ste 1234” in the second address line. This is important because FedEx Ground sometimes has difficulties delivering packages where the suite number is on the same line as the rest of the street address.

Write Correct Suite Number

Make sure your name and suite/account number are on the shipping label for all packages that arrive for your Vyking Ship account.

If a package arrives with your name, but no suite number, this will likely delay your package since we have to figure out who it belongs to. (We have customers with the same name.)

In addition, if the package arrives with your suite number and another person’s name on it, this may also delay things. We will need to check to see if the name matches, or closely matches, other accounts in our system just in case there was an error entering the suite number. If you plan on receiving some packages for a friend or family member, we highly suggest you have them put YOUR name as the recipient on the package. If this is not an option, for security purposes, we will need to have you send us a copy of a government issued photo ID that belongs to them.

We do realize that sometimes merchants may incorrectly type your name or suite number. We will do our best to figure out the correct account for all incoming packages. But this is just one other tip to prevent delivery delays.

Use Your Own Credit Card

If you use a credit card or PayPal account, use YOUR account and make sure that all the information matches the billing information you’ve given us at Vyking Ship.

This is very important if you want to prevent delivery delays on your packages to be shipped out on time after you pay for it. We have to investigate any information that does not match and this will almost guarantee a one-day delay at the very minimum and may result in us requesting some additional documentation such as a government issued photo ID and a utility bill.

If your billing address has changed, make sure to update it in your account.

Update Phone Number

Make sure the phone number we have on file is updated and accurate.

If your country’s Customs department needs some more information from you about your package, they’re going to try to call your listed phone number. If the phone number on your account is incorrect or outdated, it may result in a delay at Customs. If Customs does try to contact you, make sure you get in touch with them as soon as possible.

Clearing Customs

Custom officers are tasked to make sure everything that is going and coming into the country is legit, allowed and cleared by the law governing that state. This means they will thoroughly check the custom declaration forms.

If they find items that are not allowed or vague in description, they will proceed with opening the box to check. Just make sure you ship legit and allowed items and fill the declaration form properly to prevent delivery delays.

Batteries are perhaps the one item that get caught in this cross-fire between shipper, carrier, destination and everything else. So make sure to follow the rules. We at Vyking Ship can ship out lithium-ion batteries via DHL provided they fit the limitation prescribed by the said carrier. Make sure to contact us first if this is the case with you.

If you follow these suggestions, your packages should move much quicker and you will be able to prevent shipping and delivery delays. If you have more questions, check out our FAQ page or contact us for more help!

April 15th, 2022: At this time, all of the carriers we send packages through have suspended service to Russia and Ukraine. We will update this as service availability changes, but we do not have any information as to when these suspensions will be lifted. We will work with all customers affected by these suspensions.

The USPS has also suspended most services to New Zealand. Packages sent through USPS or USPS through Asendia to New Zealand can only ship via Express.

USPS service to Australia has also been limited. If you are shipping through USPS or Asendia, you must select Express, First Class, or World Tracked.

Any payments received for shipping options that are not available will be refunded, and the package will be re-entered into your Vyking Ship account.

Please contact us if you have any questions. For a list of USPS service suspensions, please visit their website: https://about.usps.com/newsroom/service-alerts/international/
