HS Codes Required for Customs Declaration

Jul 19, 2023 | Alerts

We are now requiring HS Codes to be input in the customs declaration. This is to help ensure a smooth shipment. A lot of countries are already requiring these codes and more are sure to come. This also helps to prevent packages being stuck in customs and/or returned to us.

Harmonized Code (HS Code)

HS Codes (or HTS Codes), also known as the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System, or simply the Harmonized System, are a standardized international system to classify globally traded products. These codes contain 6-10digits. The first 6 digits are required.

You can find these codes here: https://hts.usitc.gov/ or you can get one on your country’s government website. You can also use google – just type in a detailed goods description and you’ll get your code. With this number, customs authorities all over the world are able to identify the contents of your package. Lastly you can ask on https://openai.com/blog/chatgpt/

As a reminder you can request us to do the customs declaration. You will find this in the additional processing tab (the middle circle) or by turning on auto customs on your account page.

***If any of these details are left out, your package may be returned to the warehouse or delay your shipment.***
